Why Would I Marry My Cousin (Part II)

The woman looked up at the handsome prince as he came towards her. Desmond then knelt down on one knee and looked the maiden right in her green eyes.

“Will you marry me?” Desmond said in a sweet and loving voice. He was fixated on the beautiful maiden. She has fair skin, long brown hair, and a mystical look about her. Her tranquil expression became something the Prince did not expect.

“Are you crazy?” The maiden said shocked at the Prince’s abrupt proposal. “You don’t even know me and you want to marry me. What is it with men?” She sounded enraged.

Desmond was shocked at this lovely maiden’s sudden outburst, but then the reality of what she has said to him sank into his princely skull, and he was exceedingly disappointed. He managed a response.

“As you wish,” he mumbled in a soft voice as he stared at the ground. He regretfully retreated back to his horse. But where was his horse?

“Oh no.” The Prince could not find his prized stallion anywhere.

“What’s wrong?” the maiden asked in a sincere voice. She was sensible in that she did not marry someone she did not know, but that did not mean that she was mean.

“My horse is gone,” he said in a voice of disbelief.

“Well, I know this forest like the back of my hand. So… I could help you…?”

“That would be great!” He wanted any excuse to hang around with what hopefully would be his wife.

“If I am going to help you, then you do need to know my name. I’m Emery,” she said extending her hand.

   “Prince Desmond.”

He took Emery’s fragile, pale hand and she shook Desmond with force he did not expect.

“Alright, let’s get going.” Emery tugged the Prince down the woodland path to commence the start of their search for his horse, but would later turn into an adventure of a lifetime.
